NMHDA 24th AGM, Mathema and Amatya honoured and workshop conducted

Honourable Minister for Population and Environment Jaya Dev Joshi addressing the Closing of NMHDA AGM

 

President of NMHDA Krishna Prasad Devkota, speaking from the chair said that the private sector now have to intensified their efforts for benefit of all including the private sector stakeholders. The current challenges in micro hydro sector should be taken as opportunities. Therefore, the Association is planning to gather knowledge and expertise for the growth of private sectors and other stakeholders. In the current situation private sector entrepreneurs need to be united and work together under the auspice of the NMHDA.
Immediate past president Surendra Bhakta Mathema, past president Dewan Saingh Thapa, advisor Krishna Chandra Subedi, president of Solar Electric Manufacturers Association Nepal Uttam Sitaula, General Secretary of Khimanand Kandel also spoke on the inaugural programme highlighting need of private sector friendly policies and programmes for easier service delivery to the target people. They also elaborated that private sector is supporting the government and development partners in promotion of alternative energy technologies in the country.
NMHDA organised a workshop programme on the second day. Alternative Energy Promotion Centre/ Renewable Energy for Rural Livelihood Programme had supported NMHDA to conduct the workshop on Mini/ Micro Hydropower Projects in Off Grid Utility Model. AEPC, ED Ram Prasad Dhital, the micro hydro entrepreneur for Barpak, Gorkha Bir Bahadur Ghale, entrepreneur from Babiachaour (Surkhet) Kehav Nepal, NMHDA President Krishna Prasad Devkota presented the experiences, concepts and viabilities of the off grid utility model in Nepal’s context. The workshop was moderated by RERL National Manager Satish Gautam. The private sector stakeholders and others had dialogue and discuss for the better implementation of the modality which finally would fetch benefit to the users and entrepreneurs.
Honourable Minister for Population and Environment Jaya Dev Joshi as the chief guest at the closing of the AGM, spoke the need of wider private sector partnership in micro hydro and other such technologies for the people of Nepal. The government will extend cooperation and help create conducive environment. He also mentioned that Nepal and Group of Least Developed Countries are joining hand for the environment to make better in global scenario.
NMHDA has been honouring eminent personalities every year in reorganisation of outstanding contributions to the micro hydro sector. It had selected Surendra Bhakta Mathema and Vishwo Bhushan Amatya to honour this. Minister Joshi gave away the letter of honour to the awardees.
National Reconstruction Authority CEO Prof. Dr. Govind Pokhrel, Secretary at Ministry of Population and Environment Dr. Bishwa Nath Oli, former FNCCI President Kush Kumar Joshi, AEPC ED Ram Prasad Dhital, RERL National Manager Satish Gautam, awardees duo and NMHDA General Secretary Tej Narayan Thakur spoke on the occasion.
